We had a tremendous turnout of trekkers who tried to tackle Tipsoo Peak. (Yeah, terrible tongue-twisters terrify me too!) Anyway, it was a superb day for this club favorite to one of the more easily attained peaks in the Cascades. Tipsoo Peak is at the crossroads of all the places we love. It’s like the meeting place of the stars! Famously appearing nearby are Mt Thielsen, Mt Bailey, and Diamond Lake. A bit further away is Diamond Peak, Sawtooth Mtn, and Cowhorn Mtn. A little closer is Lake Lucille and Maidu Lake, which the North Umpqua Trail skirts by. Heck, even the Pacific Crest Trail, Tipsoo’s closest neighbor, lies a mere 400 yards away. Some of these are favorite hiking destinations. And all can be seen from the top of Tipsoo Peak!
