Union Creek Trail – July 5, 2025

Hike leader: Rheo Wheeler

Narration by Rheo Wheeler

We had a perfect sized group of ten for our Union Creek exploration. The ride just to get there is a wonderful drive up into the Cascades with very little traffic on this day after the 4th. This hike is about two hours and 20 minutes from Roseburg, a little farther than our ideal 2-hour trip.

The trail takes off right behind the Union Creek store and resort. We followed the creek for most of the 4 mile trip into the forest. The trail here is mostly flat, but the lush head high fern growth hides the trail at times and some fallen logs added a little adventure to our trek.

Some got a longer hike as they missed our turnaround waterfall lunch spot. The term “waterfall” for the little 3-foot drop was easy to miss. We all eventually had some down time before our exit hike back to civilization.
