Siltcoos River Trails – November 30, 2025

Hike Coordinator: Rheo Wheeler

Narration by Rheo Wheeler

We had a group of nine total for the Siltcoos hike: 5 from Roseburg, and we met 4 at the parking area near the Lagoon trail. The first loop was across the road from our parking area, which I wrongly assumed would connect into the Lagoon Trail. After looping that trail, we wandered down the road to the Lagoon trail for another loop around Lagoon campground. We then walked across the road and the river to reach the Waxmyrtle Trail. It was a nice meander through the Waxmyrtle campground, which was closed, and then it was a long walk down the sand road to the beach.

We encountered no wind on the beach during our snack in the sand, followed by a wander down to the mouth of the Siltcoos River. We then returned to the sand road for the trip back to civilization. This hike totaled just over 5 miles.

We hiked around Siltcoos Lagoon
Then crossed the Siltcoos River…
And then finally reached the ocean!
