On Saturday, November 29, 2008, 14
hikers set out from the Douglas
County Courthouse parking lot amid
fog and very low clouds. As the
caravan progressed towards Glide and
later Steamboat, the foggy
conditions dissipated until the day
turned out – as promised - sunny.
Starting at the Steamboat
trailhead and hiking up the
mountain, the group dispersed into
several groups; the race horses, the
middle group and the photographers
accompanied by the leashed dog.
Reuniting at the Williams Creek
camping spot then continuing on, the
group quickly reestablished the
trail order. After one hiker stopped
at Bogus Campground, the others
lunched in the sun at the top of
Fall Creek Falls, then followed the
beautiful replenished stream back to
the shuttle car.
There were some comments
regarding the promise of the sun
which was delivered and also
comments about the distance which
had been advertised at seven plus
miles and was actually closer to
eight plus. One new hiker (Chris)
turned around at Fall Creek Falls
and hiked back to Steamboat for more
of a workout.
