Nine intrepid hikers braved a wonderful hiking day to check out the Mott Segment of the North Umpqua Trail, a shuttle covering 5.5 miles from the Wright Creek Trailhead to the Mott Trailhead. It was a beautiful hike with lunch at a nice big rock. After the hike some  took a side trip to visit the “Dynamite Hole” on Steamboat Creek where hundreds of salmon gather each year prior to spawning. Unfortunately, the creek was high and the fish were deep and for the most part unseen except for a few jumps here and there.
