The weather reports all said rain, rain,
rain, ranging from 50% to 70% and possible 20 mile winds but
21 FOU members turned out to hike the Heceta Head trail to
Carl Washburn and back again.
Jane, hiking with the faster group, kept
them on track. Rheo stayed at the Hwy. 101 crossing to catch
the next group. There were not enough radios for the group
to stay in contact. Although there were three separate
groups hiking, all attained their goals.
Great vistas of the ocean and the spruce
woods, the wonderful fall colors going to and from the hike,
a wonderful cardiovascular workout and a safe return back to
the start at Devil’s Elbow State Park. Some members took
the time to investigate the Heceta Head Lighthouse, a real
treasure.
Best of all, the weather cooperated, no
rain and not much wind, who could ask for anything more?
